Beloved for generations for their cheery disposition and even, amiable, temperament, this breed is an award-winning all around amazing family dog. This breed is well known to be intelligent, kind, reliable, trustworthy, confident, and friendly. But...the FUR. They are high-shedding and sometimes human allergies prohibit the companionship of this great dog.
Taken from the AKC website: "Poodles are eager, athletic, and wickedly smart 'real dogs' of remarkable versatility." Known to be one of the smartest dog breeds around, Poodles are highly trainable, elegantly athletic, proud, loving, loyal, protective, and have hilarious senses of humor. With their low-allergen, non-shedding coat, these dogs are a fantastic addition to any family home.
The best of both worlds -- combining the pure bred genetics of both the Golden Retriever and the Poodle, Goldendoodles provide a wonderful mix in characteristics. Hybrid crosses intend to provide fewer occurrences of in-bred genetic defects, increasing health and vigor. The Goldendoodle produced in combining excellent specimens of each of these breeds results in a dog that is friendly, approachable, loving, sporty, intelligent, and with a low-to-no-shedding, low-allergen coat.
The definition of hypoallergenic is, "to be relatively unlikely to cause an allergic reaction." Please keep in mind that although the generations we breed in our program are historically known for their low-allergen coat qualities, it is NEVER GUARANTEED that your pup will NEVER shed, or NEVER cause any level of allergic reaction.
It can definitely get confusing when researching all the different generational combinations available in cross-breeding.
The F2b Generation results when a F1 Generation Goldendoodle (50% Golden Retriever, 50% Poodle) is bred to a F1b Goldendoodle (F1b = 1 parent was an F1 or first gen hybrid cross, and one parent was a pure-bred, in our case, a poodle). This generation results in several coat colors that may involve some variation in the color (solids, parti, abstract, etc.). There are many different coat types (wavy, curly, wavy/curly, etc.), but predominantly are low-to-no shedding. This generation results in 62.5% Poodle and 37.5% Golden Retriever.

You should ALWAYS ask your breeder, "How much Golden Retriever and/or poodle do you expect in your multi-gen litter?"
This is perhaps the MOST confusion generation as most breeders provide very little information about what type of goldendoodles they are using to produce their "multi-gen" litters. We are very transparent here because of our HIGH focus on preserving as much Golden Retriever content as we can. But the brief explanation is that a multi-gen is any generation at the F2 gen or beyond. We strive to result in at least 25% Golden Retriever in our multi-gen litters, and are aiming for 30% o rmore. There are many different coat types (wavy, curly, wavy/curly, etc.), but predominantly are low-to-no shedding.
